Medicine provides a useful model for environmental problem-solving. The tools used at the bedside in caring for sick patients are valuable at the streamside caring for sick river ecosystems:

  • History
  • Physical examination
  • scientific data collection and analysis
  • diagnosis, and treatment

. . . all with attention to the four guiding ethical principles of:

  • Autonomy
  • Beneficence
  • Nonmaleficence
  • Justice

This website will help network you into current efforts to protect and restore the Columbia River watershed, and give you lessons from over a century of conservation efforts.
