     Ariel McDowell

Ariel McDowell grew up playing in the Columbia River at Robson BC as a child; and now makes her home in Revelstoke.  She has been teaching and learning as an educator in the BC public education system since 1999.

Ariel believes that the best education begins by connecting students' hearts and minds to the place and the people of their local community.  When students feel they belong somewhere, then they can begin to fully express their potential, expand their self-knowledge, and contribute to society.

Ariel has been a classroom teacher at both the Secondary and Elementary school levels, and later moved to school-based vice-principal and principal positions.  She now works in a district leadership position in Revelstoke, with responsibility for a variety of student programs, including Aboriginal Education.
